The Company
Valgren is a family-run business with over 20 years of experience in the distribution of cherries and picota cherries from the Jerte Valley, a region in the North of Extremadura that, thanks to its unique weather and geological conditions, provides a unique environment for this kind of crop.
Our fruit and vegetable plant is located in Cabezuela del Valle. We have 2,400 m2 of refrigerated space for fruit storage, as well as an optical grading machine and a packaging line with a processing capacity of 50 tons per day. This enables us to guarantee a product that is uniform in size, texture, colour and flavour.
We sell 2,700 tons of cherries and 300 tons of picota cherries, exporting more than 50% of our production. Our main markets are France, Italy, Portugal, Netherlands, Belgium, Finland and the Baltic countries, and we also sell to Asia through an airborne export line.
The elevation of our farms, which ranges between 400 and 1,300 metres, allows us to supply our clients from the beginning of May to the end of August.
We have been granted the Global Gap and BRC certificates, and we are part of the Jerte Valley Denomination of Origin.
Apart from cherries, the Jerte Valley is an important production centre of chestnuts, which we also market 250 tons of.
Additionally, Valgren has a production of 1,800 tons of strawberries available in Huelva between the months of December and May.
Our aim has always been to guarantee the maximum quality of our products, while providing a personalised service and attending every specific need that our clients might have.

The Environment
Valgren is located in the Jerte valley, in the province of Cáceres, which is part of the Autonomous Community Extremadura, on western Spain.
Our valley enjoys exceptional weather and geological conditions for the growing of cherries, thanks to the nutrient-rich land and the correct exposure to cold during the winter time. All these characteristics make our cherries unique in the world.
